Good Morning,
Just wanted to get that out of the way. Wow, can't believe this was my last full week of classes at PCC Rock Creek. I'm just having a problem getting my thesis paper to sound right. I went to the tutoring for writing but the guy was thing there is more to the story and why? Yeah, I understand what he was saying but it to compare how Whitney Houston's death has a impact on our daily life is a tough subject to writing about. We'll see what I can come up with.
Math was great yesterday, scored a "A" on my last quiz and got a "C" on my last exam. Now comes finals this week. I'm ready for it to be done and no matter how I do in my classes, I know I'm passing. Next term, won't be easy as well, since the classes now get tougher. Did I say was going to summer term as well. Might as well keep going and don't stop until I get my degree.
What nasty weather we've had this past week. Rain, snow, sun, more rain, and a mix of everything else right now. In other great news, the Rosedale Run did very well this year. They raised a total so far is $4,554.14, this is not the final total since money is still coming in. Ryan and Ben both earned a spot for the martial arts and pizza party on March 21st. Katie and I are very proud of the boys and a speical thanks to everyone who supported them.
Have a great day everyone.

Well, the rain has come again!!! I can't believe the sun was out yesterday, it was 57 degree's and it was so nice. Now I've heard of snow tomorrow!!! What? Yup, I can barely think we'll have snow tomorrow or tomorrow night. Anyways, I've a few thing on my mind I need to get off.

- Over the weekend, an high school buddy of mine Kirk Gillespie passed away from cancer. He leaves behind a 3 year old son. Kirk was only 31 years old. My final essay I'm writing is called "A Celebrity Addiction Is Nothing, When A Friend Has Cancer" This paper I'm dedicating to Kirks family and friends.
- Ben is starting to feel better now. He wasn't feeling so good on Thursday which this past weekend has been rough for him but looks like things are looking beter for him.
- Blazer fans, come on. Are you happy with how your team is doing? Steve Kerr of NBA TV said, "Portland will be the team in the west." Some weeks later, I'm wishing I never heard those comments. We a joke are now, and I'm calling out Paul Allen to answer questions about this team. Do something yoo rich bastard.

Hello
Greeting everyone,
Hope the week is going well for everyone? Can you believe were already in March now. Plus we started March with snow in the Portland-Metro area. Yes, it did stick any where above 500 feet but the I woke up to see a good dusting this morning.
Yeah, were still in winter here but the last few days it's been cool but the suns been out. Oh well, anyways, this past Monday Katie and Amber had there birthdays. Yeah, just think Amber could've been a leap year baby and thank heaven thats wasn't the case. When Amber turns 8 years is will be leap year again. Just crazy!!!!
Here is Katie and Amber playing a game at Reedville Cafe during breakfast time. Don't tell the boys!!! They were in school. Anyways, over the weekend on Saturday Katie's grandma turned 95 years old. Simply amazing!!! We went out to dinner with family and had a great time. So yeah, it was a full birthday weekend plus on top of that Katie was busy training horse's.
On April 21, 2012 All you little cowpokes; dust off your boots and get ready for our 4th annual Miniature Horse Schooling Show scheduled for April 21st. Classes for all ages. Profits from this show will go to the NWMHC's Youth Fund! For entry forms contact vfmfarm@aol.com
Yes, the 4th Annual event will be happening this year at my in-law farm and were looking to have a blast once again. This will be Katie and I third year help out. First year, we were both working. In years past we had some good turns and this year were hoping for a bigger turn out since all the profits will go the NWMHC Youth Fund.
I was married into horses and I personally didn't know anything about miniature horses. Over the years I've grown into the family business. I've help improve the website and share information that is currently happening. Katie this year is getting back into training miniature horses. Which she'll also be making her return to showing this year.
Of course, she won't be alone this year. Katie will also have Benjamin showing horses as well. It's going to be fun year for the VFM Farm.

Hello
Good Morning,
Finally, I see some sun shine out this morning. Just nasty weather with the rain but that's Oregon for you. Rain, rain, and more rain. So did everyone have a good Valentines Day? Which I say it's totally overrated. Did you know that America spent over 3 billion dollars in chocolates, cards and flowers. They say were in a recession? Really? Really? Then I guess were all a little tight in the pocket book then uh!! So here is some history about Valentines Day:
The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.
Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first "valentine" greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl--possibly his jailor's daughter--who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed "From your Valentine," an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and--most importantly--romantic figure. By the Middle Ages, perhaps thanks to this reputation, Valentine would become one of the most popular saints in England and France.
Just a little history for everyone today. Enjoy your weekend. Facebook me, say hi or drop me a small line. Take care.

The Legend of St. Valentine
The history of Valentine's Day--and the story of its patron saint--is shrouded in mystery. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, and that St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. Freezing & Charley Horses
Greetings,
It's Saturday and guess what? It's very cold up here! That darn east winds is making the the skies clear, which is beautiful but the temperature freezing. So Groundhog Day was this past week and that wild Punxsutawney Phil told the world.... Six more weeks of winter on the east coast. No really, what winter does Oregon have? We have rain during March to July 4th. Snow? What snow? We haven't had a huge winter storm since 2009? Snowed 7 inches, freezing rain, and then again more snow. I remember the power bill.
Anyways, I woke up this morning at 4 am because of this.....
Leg Cramp aka Muscle contraction causing a "charley horse" (it happened to me this morning) and it hurt!!!! This time it was my left leg not my right leg in past charley horses. So I after my charley horse, I thought I better look it up. Why did this happen to me? What can I do to prevent this?
Here is the definition:
"A muscle cramp is a sudden, uncontrolled contraction of a muscle. This type of pain is most commonly experienced in the legs, and therefore often called a leg cramp or a "charley horse."

Here is the definition:
"A muscle cramp is a sudden, uncontrolled contraction of a muscle. This type of pain is most commonly experienced in the legs, and therefore often called a leg cramp or a "charley horse."
Leg cramps occur when the muscle suddenly and forcefully contracts. The most common muscles to contract in this manner are muscles that cross two joints. These muscles include the calf (crossing the ankle and knee), the hamstring (crossing the knee and hip), and the quadriceps (also crossing the knee and hip). Leg cramps usually last less than one minute, but may last several minutes before the contraction subsides. In some patients, the leg cramps occur primarily at night, and can awaken the patient from sleep."
What causes a leg cramp? The exact cause of a leg cramp is not well understood, but there are some risk factors that are thought to contribute to this condition:
- Muscle fatigue
- Heavy exercising
- Dehydration
- High weight (not necessarily obesity)
- Electrolyte imbalances
- Medications (statins, prednisone, others...)
The most common cause that is typically seen in patients who develop leg cramps is exercising in an unusual way, meaning either more activity or a different exercise. Leg cramps are more common in young (adolescent age) and older (over 65) patients. Patients who weigh more are more prone to developing leg cramps. Also, some medications can cause side effects of leg cramping.
How can leg cramps be prevented?
- Stay Hydrated
It is not well known exactly how dehydration and muscle cramping are related, but it is known that dehydration can predispose to leg cramps. Drink at least three full glasses of water each day, including one before bedtime. Also drink plenty of fluid before, during, and after exercise. - Stretch Regularly
Stretching can relax muscle fibers. When working out, a good post-work out stretching routine can help relax muscles and prevent cramps. Make sure you cool down after exercising, and do not exercise vigorously just prior to sleep. - Train Gradually
Gradually build up an exercise program, and try to avoid sudden increases in activity. The "10% Rule" is a good rule of thumb: never increase your exercise over one week by more than 10% compared to the week before. Sudden changes in activities can cause leg cramps.
What is the best way to make a leg cramp go away?
Usually instinct takes over when a leg cramp strikes, and you massage and stretch the sore muscle. This is a perfect instinct and often solves the problem. The best steps are:

So now we have learned something as a family and friends. This charley horse happened in my best guess because of dehydration. I spent all day driving yesterday to Corvallis and back home. Could it be my meds? I don't think so..... This is just another reason I need to invest in a hot tub. Or it could be because it's just to damn cold. Have good weekend.

Hello Family & Friends
Good Morning,
It's another wonderful weekend here in the Portland Metro-area with clouds over head and rain dropping all over the landscape. That's what the next five months is going to look for us but that Oregon and it's home. So school is busy for my right now with a lot of homework and some very cool project going on. My dream weaver class is fun, it's a whole new world out there. Cutting edge some people would say back in the 80's. Hey, if you have any funny video's or anything about computer videos please be sure to email it to me. jjosh4u@gmail.com Title: Computer videos. Be great to share with my class.
Writing class is great. I totally dig my teacher and I've heard her say that a lot of people take her for being a student. But I'm writing so much, it's fun and I enjoy it. I'll be posting some of my work here soon, so you guys can see what I'm doing. I'm also doing some projects, for example I'm doing one project on interruptions. This weekend I'm keeping track (while doing homework) to see how may times my kids interrupt me in a four period. I answer questions like description of interruption, valid, urgent, also adding time and person. So far it's Benjamin just needing a hug.
Anyways, I also took a career skills test for my writing class. Which this was assessment test about the following: interests, values and abilities. Or in other words is the degree I'm going for worth it? Am I meant for something else?!! I took the test and the questions were so, so but I was leading towards more small business (Northwest Comics) but the result were crazy and nothing I was ready for.
The Results:
Stay warm, drop me an email sometime. Have a great weekend.
